Renewal Of Strength
TOPIC: RENEWAL OF STRENGTH
Read Isaiah 40:28-31
Memorize: But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:31)
Vehicle owners renew their vehicle particulars as at when due to avoid embarrassments. Trees shed their leaves yearly in order to bring out new ones. Birds shed their feathers, and snakes shed their skins regularly for
renewal. Companies seldom joke with refresher courses.
Jesus Christ, during His earthly ministry, despite being God in flesh, valued withdrawal into solitary places to draw new strength from the Father (Mark 1:35). He challenged His followers at a time (Mk. 6:30-32).
From today's reading, we learn that strong people get tired at times, feeling crushed and not able to move on. Yesterday's anointing is stale, hence the need for renewal (cf. Eccl. 10:10; Jdg. 15:18; 2 Sam. 21:15; 1 Kgs. 19:4-8). Jesus didn't do today's work with yesterday's anointing.
Dear reader, you must learn to retire in order to re-fire. The waiting period is not a wasted time. Regularly return to the Source of your strength for renewal in fasting and prayer, Bible studying and meditation, and fellowship with brethren. It is then you can be strong in the Lord till the end (Eph. 6:10). Never joke with the power of being alone with Jesus.
Prayer Points:
1. Rekindle my fire, oh Lord.
2. Tell God to cast out the spirit of self-centredness from our Church ministers who turn their assemblies to personal empires.
3. Pray that our so-called busy schedules will not scheme God and His grace out of our lives.
