You Need The Holy Spirit
TOPIC: YOU NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT
Read 1 Corinthians 2:6; 3:4
MEMORISE
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. ( 1 Corinthians 2:12)
EXPOSITION
Our Lord Jesus Christ promised sending the Holy Spirit after He had ascended to the right hand of our Father in heaven (John 14:26). He was in a way promising to continue in, and with believers, in the person of the Holy Spirit, who would teach us all things.
With the above at the back of his mind, Apostle Paul reiterated that the wisdom of the Holy Spirit is far greater than the wisdom of even the wisest in this world. The wisdom of the Holy Spirit is needed to understand the things given to us freely by God. Indeed, we need the Holy Spirit to interpret spiritual truths, so that, as disciples of the Lord Jesus, we can walk in the Truth. We need the Holy Spirit because, God has chosen to reveal to us and help us in our walk with Him, in His Son, and by His Holy Spirit.
Many of us have probably heard or can sing the following by heart : "Christ is enough for me, Christ is enough for me, Everything I need is in You, Everything I need..... " It's probably one of the most beautiful songs written about the joy of salvation by Hillsong Worship. He is indeed everything we need. He is our All in All. He has also given us His Spirit to help us in our walk with Him to eternity. The Holy Spirit is given to us so that we can grow in holiness in Christ. If you will not live like an orphan (comfortless) -- you need the Holy Spirit (Jn. 14:18,19).
As believers in Christ Jesus, we need to understand the love of God the Father as well as the work of the Holy Spirit in order to "abide " in God's Words and become true disciples of Jesus Christ, being conformed to His image and likeness (Rom. 12:2).
PRAYER POINTS
1. Holy Spirit, I need You in my life as Jesus promised You; dwell in me and fill me to overflowing, all the days of my life.
2. Lord our God, help us to fully appreciate the truth that the Holy Spirit is sent to us, to help us in our walk with You.
3. O Lord, help believers to embrace the sufficiency of Christ for them in all things and at all times.
