Appointment For Disappointment
TOPIC: APPOINTMENT FOR DISAPPOINTMENT
READ: Genesis 40:1--15
MEMORISE
Sever yourselves from such a man, whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he? (Isaiah 2:22)
EXPOSITION
Someone went for an interview in a financial institution. In spite of all the rigours he subjected himself to, for the interview, he was not picked, at the end of the day. Not because he was unqualified, but he later on discovered that he was not meant for the job; God had a greater assignment for him. What would have been his fate, if he had allowed disappointment, frustration or anger to drive him crazy on the seeming failure?
Joseph hoped for a release form prison, after that he had successfully interpreted the dream of the cupbearer of the king that was fulfilled as interpreted. Yet, it did not work out for him that way. The cupbearer forgot him. What a pity! Thanks to God who finally brought it back to the cupbearer's memory when the time was ripe. Two years of waiting, God eventually came in His own way at His own time (Gen.41:1).
It is man's to reject, betray, cheat, insult, snub, maltreat, extort, etc., but it is God's to remember, appoint, promote, exalt and make glad. It is futile to depend upon somebody for help, promotion, recommendation, greatness, etc. This does not undermine the fact that God often uses man to accomplish His purposes in man's life. Man has preferences, which, on most cases, are affected by sentiments or biases. Work assiduously to gain God's approval, and do not give in to eye -service.
God will soon make you a factor to be reckoned with, a positive point of reference, in Jesus' name. Desist from looking up to man's appointment or approval; look up to God. Your years of being forgotten, rejected, and disappointed are over, in Jesus' name. It is your turn to be celebrated. As you walk rightly with the Lord Jesus, He will rightly position you on the throne He has prepared for you. And in case anyone has wrongly occupying such positions, most especially, due to your past ignorance or distancing yourself from the Lord, He knows how to depose such illegal occupants for your entertainment.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord Jesus, lift me up where people have finished plans to relegate me.
2. Oh Lord, send help to every believer who is passing through a form of adversity or the other.
3. Lord Jesus, You promoted Joseph despite the challenges he was subjected to, at every juncture of his life; promote me, oh Lord.
