Freedom By The Truth

TOPIC: FREEDOM BY THE TRUTH
Read John 8:29-36
Memorize: Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:32)
One thing man cherishes greatly is freedom. The student/
apprentice looks forward to his graduation/freedom. A prisoner looks forward to his release. People go to any length to be free. Nelson Mandela suffered 27-year imprisonment to emancipate his people. Little wonder, countries of the world celebrate their independence with pomp and pageantry. Jesus paid the ultimate price to set us free Satan, sin and sorrow.
Whoever commits sin (fornication, adultery, lying, drunkenness, pride, etc.) is a slave to it (Gal. 5:19-21; 2 Pet. 2:19). The Bible warns us, Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey - whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? (Rom. 6:16). Whoever is a slave to sin has no place in the kingdom of God.
However, only Jesus can deliver from the grip of sin, the reason He came to this world (Isa. 61:1; Luke 4:18-19; 1 Jn. 3:8). The Freedom spoken of in Jn. 8:29-36 comes through accepting the lordship of Jesus, the Truth, and obeying His word, walking in the newness of life (2 Cor. 5:17). Then you will be spiritually and morally free.
If you have been set free, make up your mind as you receive His grace, strength and Spirit to become free forever.
Prayer Points:
1. Father set me free from every besetting sin, in Jesus' name.
2. Ask God to dismantle the social vices threatening the survival of our great nation.
3. Ask the Lord to make believers become more determined and passionate about corporate worship under His anointing.
