The Death Of The Righteous.

THEME: THE DEATH OF THE RIGHTEOUS. MEMORISE: Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his! Numbers 23:10 READ: Revelation 14:9-13 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, W

Your Reading Of It

TOPIC: YOUR READING OF IT Read: Luke 10:25-28 MEMORISE: He said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?" (Luke 10:26). EXPOSITION In our text today, the lawyer who queried Jesus already had a very wrong intention- to test Jesus, the perfect Wisdom of God (v. 25). So many people approach Jesus, read His Word (the Bible), or listen to sermons with biased/prejudiced minds. Your questions during the Sunday school or Bible study, are they not meant to prove Your so called ‘superior’ theological/Bible knowledge-arrogance, or to ‘wash down’ God’s Word and the speaker?        God sees very deeply into your intention and ulterior motives, as the case may be, and has the right response and reward for such, respectively (cf. Gal.6:7).        In Luke 10:26, we see that things regarding the understanding of God’s word First, What is written… implies the ability to read the Scripture correctly, without distortion. But much more important is the second imp

Seasoned With Salt?

THEME: SEASONED WITH SALT? MEMORISE: Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Colossians 4:6 READ: Ephesians 4:29 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. MESSAGE As seen in today's memory verse, the Holy Spirit demands that our speech be seasoned with salt. When cooking, it does not matter how many delicious ingredients you have in the soup, if you don't add salt, your food may taste bland. In the same way, no matter how holy or filled with the Holy Spirit you claim to be, if your speech is not seasoned with salt, you are distasteful to God and man. In fact, all your claims are lies, because Luke 6:45 says: “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:  for of the

Mercy For Merit

TOPIC: MERCY FOR MERIT Read: Romans 9:6-21 MEMORISE: Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens_ (Romans 9:18). EXPOSITION Mercy can be basically said to be “an unmerited favour.” If we are to go by merit, no direct, indirect or extended descendant of Adam deserves it, because mankind lost it fundamentally since the Eden saga (Gen. 3:1ff). In the contemporary life, almost everything is claimed to be gotten on merit: gain employments, university admissions, elections, into governances just to mention few. However, justification for the claim is unrealistic in our world of godfatherism, nepotism, tribalism and highly opinionated religionism! Mercy is not saying “Even if he sins and continues sinning, he is still My chosen one.” Nothing like that, going by scriptures! Rather, mercy says “Though I chastise him sore, with plenteous mercy I will restore him.” Consider David. By merit, he was unqualified to ask. The odd against him was that he was the last a

The Supremacy Of Jesus Christ

TOPIC - THE SUPREMACY OF JESUS CHRIST Read - John 16:14 The holiness movements of today have none of the rugged reality of the New Testament about them. There is nothing about them that needs the death of Jesus Christ. All that is required is a pious atmosphere, prayer, and devotion. This type of experience is not supernatural nor miraculous. It did not cost the sufferings of God, nor is it stained with “the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 12:11). It is not marked or sealed by the Holy Spirit as being genuine, and it has no visual sign that causes people to exclaim with awe and wonder, “That is the work of God Almighty!” Yet the New Testament is about the work of God and nothing else. The New Testament example of the Christian experience is that of a personal, passionate devotion to the Person of Jesus Christ. Every other kind of so-called Christian experience is detached from the Person of Jesus. There is no regeneration— no being born again into the kingdom in which Christ lives a

Prevailing Prayer

TOPIC: PREVAILING PRAYER Read:  James 5:13-18 MEMORIZE And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit (James 5:18) EXPOSITION Prayer is talking to God, and God also talking back to us. It goes beyond closing eyes, kneeling down, mountaineering and other spiritual rituals we put in prayer. It is an art and act. Though it is a noun, yet it is more of a verb (an action word) than a naming word. Somebody says: “While our preaching affects the pew; our prayers affects God,” How? Our prayers move God, if they are rightly channeled by right persons (Jas. 5:16b). Prayer should be part and parcel of every Christian. This is because it builds and cements or reinforces our relationship with God. Let us see 7 things that prayer does: 1. Prayer moves mountains Lk. 6?:12; Mk 11:24; 2. Prayer changes situations Acts 12:1-7; 3. Prayer moves the hand of God James 5:17; 4. Prayer solves problems James 5:15; 5. Prayer makes the impossible possible Mt. 17:21

Missing The World?

THEME: MISSING THE WORLD? MEMORISE: And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62 READ: 1 John 2:15-17 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. MESSAGE: There is a natural feeling in every human being called nostalgia. It is the feeling you get when you miss someone or something that was once a part of your life. When you become born again, a lot of things about you change. Your friends, choice of drinks, fun spots, daily schedule, speech and many more things change. The difference between being born again and just keeping away from these things is that when you

When You Need Help

THEME: WHEN YOU NEED HELP MEMORISE: And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression: Deuteronomy 26:7 READ: Deuteronomy 26:6-9 6 And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage: 7 And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression: 8 And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders: 9 And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, even a land that floweth with milk and honey. MESSAGE: Without question, every man or woman born into this world needs help at one point or the other. Knowing what to do when the need for help arises is a factor that differentiates victors from defeated people. A fellow ends up being defeated and frustr

Just A Few

TOPIC: JUST A FEW Read: Judges 7:1-7 MEMORISE: And the LORD said to Gideon, "The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, 'My own hand has saved me'’’ (Judges 7:2). EXPOSITION There is no general formula for solution to life’s problems, just as mathematical problems have varying approaches to solving them. God, who put this in man to invent, is a dynamic God. He foresees the future at the tip of His fingers. He knows and searches man’s heart to know his intents. The Israelites’ army led by Gideon were to go in a battle with the Midianites. About 33,000 volunteers were enlisted. “That’s quite encouraging,” you would say.  Surprisingly, God instructed Gideon to announce early departures of those who wished to retreat, and 10,000 men pulled out for fear of the unknown. This shows that these were unready. They did not count the cost! They joined the multitude, without hav

Submission To Authorities

TOPIC: SUBMISSION TO AUTHORITIES Read: Romans 13:1-7 [1]Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that are ordained of God.[2]Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.[3]For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:[4]For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.[5]Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.[6]For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.[7]Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; f

Before The Gate Shuts

THEME: BEFORE THE GATE SHUTS MEMORISE: For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Romans 9:15 READ: Ecclesiastes 8:11-13 11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. 12 Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: 13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God. MESSAGE: One observable fact about human beings is that anytime they engage in wrong deeds that deserve to be punished and the punishment does not occur, they will assume that they can press forward with their evil deeds without any consequences. In other words, impunity reigns where justice does not take its full course. For example, if you comm

The Secrets Of Life

THEME: THE SECRETS OF LIFE MEMORISE: The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29 READ: Daniel 2:25-28 25 Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation. 26 The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof? 27 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, show unto the king; 28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these; MESSAGE

Feed Them To The Air

TOPIC: FEED THEM TO THE AIR Read: Psalm 56:1-13 MEMORISE: In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? (Psalm 56:4). EXPOSITION Had people known the psychological and spiritual havoc that fear wrecks in them, they would have dispelled it into the air. Don’t you know that fear is False Evidence Appearing Real? Fear stands for faithlessness, entanglement, anxiety and relegation! All these are negative things you must avoid like plague. The Bible explains why there is fear. Adam and Eve, having rejected God’s status, becomes afraid (Gen.3:10). So, sin engenders fear (Gen.4:1). We are asked to fear God .This is not to see Him as a monster or terrific Lion roaring hungrily at its preys! Rather, it is reverence and honour for God (Pro.1:7). When we fear God we keep His commandment that created both heaven and earth. Fear, apart from the fear of God, is of the devil, and is negative. While the fear of God produces righteousness

Mercy Versus Judgement

THEME: MERCY VERSUS JUDGEMENT MEMORISE: He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Proverbs 29:1 READ: Psalm 103:17-22 17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; 18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. 19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. 20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. 21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. 22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul. MESSAGE: Our God is a holy God. At the same time, He is Love. From time to time, the holiness of God and the love of God may clash. His holiness will direct Him to go one way while His love will

Overwhelmed By The Pressure

TOPIC: OVERWHELMED BY THE PRESSURE Read: Matthew 26:36-39 MEMORISE: And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). EXPOSITION Jesus told the disciples, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me (Matthew 26:38). This is the reaction of our Lord at Gethsemane, when He saw the gravity of what would soon befall Him. He requested, if possible, the cup of suffering be taken away from Him. Yet, He allowed the will of His father to prevail. As a child of God, are you overwhelmed? What are your reactions? Whose will do you allow to prevail? As a Christian, do you have pressure from the world, generational curse, lifestyle, joblessness, family peer group, place of work, or society? What are you struggling with as you plan to please God? The only thing to do, is to turn to God, and allow His will to prevail in your situation. Always remember that His grace is sufficient for

Divine Promotion

THEME: DIVINE PROMOTION MEMORISE: For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. Psalm 75:6 READ: Psalm 75:5-7 5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. 6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge:  he putteth down one, and setteth up another. MESSAGE The title of our reflection today is "Divine Promotion", because experience has shown that there are evil ways of getting promoted. However, promotion gotten through diabolical means does not last, and neither does it do any good to its beneficiary. The history of mankind confirms that getting promoted diabolically always has its adverse effects, so much so that its beneficiary will regret it in the end. A classical example of someone who wickedly promoted himself to be king was Macbeth in one of the Shakespearean plays. Although he got to the throne, he never enjoyed it. Also, the story of A

Chosen And Chastised

TOPIC: CHOSEN AND CHASTISED Read: Amos 3:1-5 MEMORISE: You only have I known of all the families of the earth; Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities (Amos 3:2). EXPOSITION When God choose a person, He does so without apology. He seeks no consultation or confirmation. He unquestionably promotes and abases (Psa. 73:7). God deliberately choose and separated Israel from all nations (v. 29). He did this to make them His and a representative of Him among humanity. Israel was bestowed with God’s mercy to the extent that He (God) did not mind to sacrifice peoples and places for their sake! (Psa. 136:10-22). He used others’ lives to replace theirs. He gave them the inheritances of nations (Psa. 136:22). He brought them to the Promised Land.  Unfortunately, these people did not acknowledge nor appreciate God for all these largesse. Instead, the rebelled and disobeyed Him serially and perpetually (Psa. 78:13). This made God not to spare His rod to break their rebellion and r

Trusting In The Lord

TOPIC: TRUSTING IN THE LORD Memorise: Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:5 It is imperative to know that God has a plan for your life. This plan takes into consideration your personality, talents, needs, potential and environment (Ephesians 2:10). God has ordained certain specific tasks for each individual Christian (Hebrews 12:1). Paul knew this and was able to say “I have finished my course”, only after he had fulfilled his ministry and his work was completed (2 Timothy 4:7). I pray that you will fulfil your ministry and complete your task in Jesus’ Name. God’s plan for you is very personal. It is just for you. The plan is very detailed with everything worked out step by step (Psalm 37:23). God might not reveal the distant future, but His guidance will be continuous (Isaiah 58:11). God is always ready to reveal the next step to you but as usual you need to ask before you can receive (Psalm 143:8). One thing you can be sure of

Conversion Of The Purse

TOPIC: CONVERSION OF THE PURSE Memorise: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38 One of the very urgent needs of the Great Commission is financial liberation. For the gospel to reach the ends of the earth, we need liberation from financial bondage. The Body of Christ is in need of freedom from growing debts, little or no savings, inadequate income, lack of financial plans for the future and divorces resulting from financial tension in the home. Some members of the Church are financially strong but in dire need of freedom from suffocating materialism. Definitely as the Body of Christ, we need wisdom to spend our resources in eternally rewarding ways. It is obvious that the church is in need of financial resources to accomplish its assignment; the question is: in what ways are you of help to the Bod

Why didn't Jesus marry?

Topic: Why didn't Jesus marry? Since Jesus was the ideal and model man, it is easy to wonder why He did not marry and father children during His earthly life. As a hard-working and skilled carpenter, a man with a magnetically good character and winsome personality, and with His years of fame and miracle-working, it is likely that more than one woman gave Him opportunity to marry. No Scripture directly answers the question of why Jesus never married. Several possibilities have been suggested to explain Jesus’ singleness: 1. Jesus did not marry because He had limited time on earth. His strenuous travel and demanding work load would have prevented Him from rightly fulfilling the roles of husband and father. And a wife would have been a distraction to Jesus’ primary mission. A married Jesus would have had to place His wife’s needs above those of the world He came to rescue (see 1 Corinthians 7:32–35). 2. For three years, Jesus lived as a homeless healer-teacher (Luke 9:58). He woul

God Will Help You

THEME: GOD WILL HELP YOU MEMORISE: For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.Isaiah 41:13 READ: ISAIAH 41:10-14 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. 41:11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. 41:12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 41:13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. 41:14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. MESSAGE: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm

Forbid Extension!

THEME: FORBID EXTENSION! MEMORISE: But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 1Peter 5:10 READ: GENESIS 15:10-15 15:10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. 15:11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. 15:12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 15:14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. 15:15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. MESSAGE: One

Financial Breakthrough

THEME: FINANCIAL BREAKTHROUGH MEMORISE: If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. Job 36:11 READ: Deuteronomy 28:11-12 11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. MESSAGE: In Deuteronomy 15:11, the Holy Spirit revealed that there would always be poor people in the land. The Lord also confirmed this in Matthew 26:11. Nevertheless, according to Deuteronomy 28:1-12, we also understand that the will of God is for His children to live in abundance and even lend to nations. So, while the poor will always be in the land, the wealthy  will also be there al

Situation That Occasion Your Promotion

TOPIC: SITUATION THAT OCCASION YOUR PROMOTION Read: Genesis 41:22-44 MEMORISE: And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt” (Genesis 41:41). EXPOSITION May God help us to understand His working and works. The way God works is far, as distant as the earth from the heavens, from the way we think things should work. Many groan. “Things are not working and form….”This is after many efforts and attempts have been made to reach certain goals. Until we understand times and situations, we will remain baffled, instead of being unruffled, with the predicament in our lives (Hab. 2:4).  Many of us seem to query God: “Why must I go through all these (stress, discomfort, hardship, failures…) before I breakthrough in life?” Well, the simple but salient answer is that, God, in His unquestionable character, has designed it that there should be situations that would occasion your promotion.  Daniel went through his own rigours that were unfavourable to him,

Does Genesis chapter 1 mean literal 24-hour days?

Topic: Does Genesis chapter 1 mean literal 24-hour days? In our opinion, examination of the Hebrew word for “day” and the context in which it appears in Genesis will lead to the conclusion that “day” means a literal, 24-hour period of time. The Hebrew word  yom  translated into the English “day” can mean more than one thing. It can refer to the 24-hour period of time that it takes for the earth to rotate on its axis (e.g., “there are 24 hours in a day”). It can refer to the period of daylight between dawn and dusk (e.g., “it gets pretty hot during the day but it cools down a bit at night”). And it can refer to an unspecified period of time (e.g., “back in my grandfather’s day . . .”). It is used to refer to a 24-hour period in  Genesis 7:11 . It is used to refer to the period of daylight between dawn and dusk in  Genesis 1:16 . And it is used to refer to an unspecified period of time in  Genesis 2:4 . So, what does  yom  mean in  Genesis 1:5–2:2  when used in conjunction with ordin

You Are Inexcusable!

TOPIC: YOU ARE INEXCUSABLE! Read: Micah 6:6-16 MEMORISE: He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8). EXPOSITION Human beings, right from Adam, have always loved to give one excuse or the other. Adam would want God to have him excused because it was Eve that ate and gave forbidden fruit to him to eat? Eve in turn, didn’t want God to punish her because the serpent lured her! (Gen 3:6ff) From that point, excuses became part and parcel of man’s nature. We try from time to time to give excuses that sometimes seem genuine, and most times not genuine. We give flimsy and undefinable excuses. We give this and that reasons for inability to get a piece of work done, make up a meeting, keep/book an appointment… and the list goes on.  The fatal issue on excuses is that God rejected and still rejects excuses. If someone would fail to cooperate with His Maker, Saviour and Lord at t

Dangers Of Ignorance

THEME: DANGERS OF IGNORANCE MEMORISE: Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Ephesians 4:18 READ: Hosea 4:6 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. MESSAGE: Ignorance means a lack of knowledge. It is a state of being uninformed, and this is a very dangerous thing. People sometimes say that ignorance is bliss, but this is very wrong. Knowledge is power, while ignorance on the other hand is death. It is what you don't know that can kill you. A person who doesn't know how dangerous a snake is can decide to stroke its beautiful body to his or her own peril. A worker who fails to learn  about the requirements peculiar to his or her job will in no time lose that job. Those who don

What Is The Meaning Of Life?

Topic: What is the meaning of life? What is the meaning of life? How can purpose, fulfillment, and satisfaction in life be found? How can something of lasting significance be achieved? So many people have never stopped to consider these important questions. They look back years later and wonder why their relationships have fallen apart and why they feel so empty, even though they may have achieved what they set out to accomplish. An athlete who had reached the pinnacle of his sport was once asked what he wished someone would have told him when he first started playing his sport. He replied, 'I wish that someone would have told me that when you reach the top, there's nothing there.' Many goals reveal their emptiness only after years have been wasted in their pursuit. In our humanistic culture, people pursue many things, thinking that in them they will find meaning. Some of these pursuits include business success, wealth, good relationships, sex, entertainment, and doin

Hazarding Lives For Missions

TOPIC: HAZARDING LIVES FOR MISSIONS Memorise: Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 15:26 Within the space of a few years after the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the gospel about Him had reached Rome, Alexandria, Antioch and all the great cities in Europe, Africa and Asia. The gospel had made great inroads into the aristocracy and among intellectuals, and had already changed the lives of countless ordinary men and women. How did this happen? Evangelism was a priority among the first followers of Jesus. The Apostles and disciples of old obeyed the Great Commission; they were also missionaries who gave their all to missions. I have heard people say to me, “Daddy, I am a pastor but not a missionary”. Who is a missionary? The unscriptural but popular view is that a missionary comes from a rich country that is advanced in education and technology. Because of the advantages of his culture, he comes to help those less fortunate

Nineveh's Fasting Experience

THEME: NINEVEH’S FASTING EXPERIENCE MEMORISE: So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. Jonah 3:5 READ: JONAH 3:1-10 1 And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, 2 Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. 3 So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey. 4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. 5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and publ
