The Survival Syndrome (I)

TOPIC: THE SURVIVAL SYNDROME (1)

READ MATTHEW 6:25-30

MEMORISE: Therefore I tell you, do not worry
about your life, what you will eat or drink; or
about your body, what you will wear. Is not life
more important than food, and the body more
important than clothes? (Matthew 6:25)

Message
Let's introduce this piece this way: After food,
cloth and shelter, what's next? May be cars and overseas trips. The truth of the matter is that today's yearning is close to survival syndrome. When you pray God bless me kind of prayers today, perhaps what occupy your mind are the ephemerals.
It's a syndrome because almost everybody today will be ready to compromise value for the pleasure of the basic necessities of life. There is more to life than food, clothing and shelter. Don't misunderstand the point. These
necessities are actually needed to keep life
rolling, but life goes beyond just having them.
You need to define the circle you belong to.
Syndrome is a group of symptoms consistently occurring together. It could be that serious that a young woman would be very ready to give up her virginity for a credit voucher of a thousand naira or even less. This survival mentality is not for you as a covenant child of God. Break free from the menace; your Father in heaven is able to take good care of you.
As we venture into this glorious day, you can
and will go beyond because your Source is not
earthly and worldly. You have an inexhaustible
God and your provision has been taken care of
long before your arrival. Relax and set your
affection on your Maker who will cater for your needs even beyond measures and overflow (Psalm 23:5; Php 4:19). Don't suffer from the survival syndrome. Receive the abundant life and enjoy the abundance of God.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, deliver me from the power and evil of
worry.
2. Ask God to set the way out for youths who
are undergoing pressures to compromise their faith in Christ and lose their virginity.
3. Pray for the single mother to receive God's
help to successfully face the challenges of single parenting to God's glory.
