The Fear That Ensnares

TOPIC: THE FEAR THAT ENSNARES

READ PSALMS 27:1-14

MEMORISE: Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe. (Proverbs 29:25)

Message
The Scripture uses the word "fear" in two different contexts: fear as of "dread, fright, afraid", and fear as "revere, highly esteemed." The first man (Adam) was created without fear or being afraid of anything. Rather, he revered God. But how did fear as fright enter into the world? He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I his." (Genesis 3:10).
And why did he hide? The horror of sin stung him, thus causing great guilt that brought fear in its negative sense upon and into him. And since then, fear had turned out to be terror to man - the fear of failure, sickness, debts, divorce, miscarriage, poverty, evil, human wickedness, and of course, of death. Are these real? They are not real to only those who avail themselves of God's provision against the snare of fear.
By God's eternal design for this reason, Jesus Christ came so that by His death he might destroy him who holds the power of death - that is, the devil - and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death (Hebrew 2:14,15). And He has given us the spirit of power, love and self-discipline to overcome fear and timidity (2 Tim 1:7). Halleluyah!
Have you availed yourself of this great opportunity? If not, accept Christ's offer of salvation now to be free. And now that you are free, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him (Luke 12:4-5).

PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord, I receive Your power against all form of negative fears, in Jesus' name.
2. Lord, release upon Your Church the uncommon confidence to stand against the activities of antichrists in all their manifestations.
3. Pray that God should stop pastors, prophets, etc. from putting people under the bondage of unnecessary fear of Satan, demonic hosts, and enemies by intimidating 'hot prayers.'
