Talk Less

TOPIC: TALK LESS

READ JAMES 3:1-3

MEMORISE: My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry (James 1:19).

Message
Somebody once said, God gave us two ears for us to hear more and one mouth to speak less. In fact, the only mouth He gives us is even guarded with lips to close it most times, while the ears are always there, wide-open. Speaking more without control and purpose makes one to lose more virtues, while keeping quiet generates more energy and strength needed and useful for life assignment. (cf. Prov 16:32; 22:24; 25:28).
Yes, the sanguine have the tendency to talk much, given their temperamental weakness. Yet, the temperament can be turned to a Holy Spirit-controlled temperament. You should cooperate with the Holy Spirit to be able to tame your tongue, because failing to do so might lead you in trouble beyond expectation. Do not speak when your emotion is negatively high, lest you talk amiss. Until you get yourself and your emotion under control, the time to speak is better be deferred. That is why most interviews by press men do not yield any good fruit, especially if the issue at hand is urgent in the public interest. The reply may sound like 'no comment'. Never you think that all of those replies are out of pride.
A suspect under arrest is succinctly advised to remain silent because whatever is said might be used against him in the court of law. Silence at some points shouldn't be taken as a sign of cowardice, stupidity or having nothing 'upstairs'. Rather, people who learn to keep quiet in response to the leading of the Holy Spirit are people of great wisdom and insight. Talk less. Think more. Fulfil your destiny.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Holy Spirit, keep rein over my spirit and lips, in Jesus' name.
2. Lord, give us men of Holy Spirit-controlled temperament and proven integrity who talk less and act more with determination in our Church and nation.
3. Pray that wealth should shift from the hands of those fighting the gospel to those of the gospel promoters.
