Standing Out In The Crowd

STANDING OUT IN THE CROWD
Read 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
MEMORISE
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the King's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself (Daniel 1:8).
EXPOSITION
Standing out might look odd, risky and unpopular. Yet, if it is the best option leading to the will of God, there should be no alternative. Daniel and his three young Hebrew friends stood alone in the crowd in Babylon. Their standing out led to intimidation, harassment and threat to life. Yet, they stood their ground.
Caleb and Joshua stood out among other equal leaders of God's people. They understood that " majority " does not mean God's approval. The knowledge and power of God were responsible for their extraordinary behaviour and success. Great men in our contemporary world also have stood, and are still standing for Him despite the shame, persecution, ridicule, molestation and death.
The apostles of old stood out in their days. Though faced untold hardship, yet they drew strength from Him. Their consolation was that they could do all things through Christ who strengthened them.
If only you can depend on Him for strength, standing out will not be too risky and fearful, because it is rewarding. Determine to face fierce opposition and persecution because God is the source from whom you can draw strength. Be sure of His unfailing support at all times. He can't let you down. Be fearless and always avoid the congregation of the ungodly, because evil association corrupts good manner. You need to rely completely on God and rest fully on all His promises. He honours all His Words.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, I refuse to be intimidated by majority decisions that contradict Your will.
2. Father, give me the grace to stand for You in every situation, no matter the cost.
3. Pray for the leaders of God's people to be able to fortify themselves from the influence of the corrupt leaders.
