Intercede For Others

Read Acts 12:1-17 Memorize: For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9). Praying for others is a very important God-given Christian mandate. As much as we have issues to discuss with God in prayer, there are some people we are duty bound to pray for, because we are not saved and empowered for ourselves alone. However, this is an uphill task, if we don't have a prayer altar. If we constantly meet with God in prayers, it will eventually become a habit. Keep your altar of prayer with fresh holy fire. The church prayed for Peter while in prison, and he was freed. Paul requested that the church pray for him. Jesus instructs that we pray for our leaders. There is no basis for egocentric prayer. Pray for your family members, relatives, neighbours, gospel ministers, mission fields, the sick, etc. As God-sent intercessor, identify those you are to pray for and stay committed to praying for them (cf. Gen. 18:20ff). You have an intercessory assignment on everyone around you. Can God depend on you? The Holy Spirit is interceding for the Saints (Rom. 8:26,27). The Lord Jesus is also doing that (Rom. 8:34). Why will you not start it today? Prayer Points: 1. Father, I receive the grace to do the work of intercession effectively, in Jesus' name. 2. Pray that God should bind families everywhere together powerfully with unbreakable cords of love, unity, understanding and total trust. 3. Pray that the Church will rediscover the ministry of intercession, in Jesus' name. Extra Reading For Today: Colossians 1-4
