Not a Single One Will Fail

700 years from the time the Lord promised Abram that he would show him a land and make him a great nation (GE 12.1-2). Think of all Abraham and his descendants went through – Abram’s sojourn in Egypt, his rescue of Lot, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the birth of Isaac, Abraham’s “sacrifice” of his son, the birth of Jacob and Esau, Jacob’s many years of serving Laban, the births of Jacob’s sons including Joseph, Joseph’s years in Egypt including years in prison, until God elevated him to Pharaoh’s right hand, the move of Jacob’s family to Egypt, the prospering of Israel then their enslavement in Egypt, the birth of Moses and the miraculous deliverance of Israel from Egypt, the 40 years in the desert, and finally Israel wound up in the promised land and Joshua allotted the land to the tribes of Israel. Joshua 21 says: Thus the LORD gave to Israel all the land that he swore to give to their fathers. And they took possession of it, and they settled there. And the LORD gave them rest on every side just as he had sworn to their fathers. Not one of all their enemies had withstood them, for the LORD had given all their enemies into their hands. Joshua 21.43-44 What a long, long road it had been. God had finally given Israel the land he had sworn to give them multiple times from that first promise he made to Abraham. Not one of their enemies had withstood them. Joshua 21 goes on to say: Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass. Josh 21.45 For 700 years, God kept his every promise to his people. And our God has not changed. Not one word of his promises to us will fail. Not one. If you believe in Jesus, God will not fail to bring you through to the promised land of heaven. He will not fail to guide you and protect you and provide for you. He will not fail to love you and be faithful to you. He will not fail to pour out his abundant goodness upon you. He will not fail to work in you and sanctify you and make you like Christ. You may have to go through deserts and dry lands. He may take you through dark nights. You will have sins to put to death, “enemies” you must drive out of your life in Christ. You may pass through valleys of sadness. Yet NOT ONE WORD of all he promises will fail. You may not see all his words fulfilled in your lifetime. You may not see God fulfill his promises to your children in your lifetime. I pray for God to save and bless all my children, grandchildren and every descendant of mine long after I’m gone, until the day Jesus returns. This is why we should never give up hope. Even if we don’t see all the promises we think God should fulfill in our lifetimes we must trust that he will fulfill them in his perfect timing because he is faithful and he does what he promises. Even if it takes 700 years.
